Topography of Tell Ezou with the results of the electrical resistivity survey

Bronze Age

The surveyed area is a natural corridor between Mediterranean coastal regions and the large plains of the steppe and desert in the interior of Syria.

This geographical circumstance and the distribution of the known sites suggest that during the Bronze Age the region played an important role in the routes of communication for trade. Within the framework of this project we have attempted to locate the landmarks along this route which imply the growth of large villages, practically towns, to attend the logistic needs of the trading.

The test excavations at Tell Ezou have revealed the presence of large rectangular Bronze Age buildings, with walls a metre wide, of which the stone foundations or part of the walls have been preserved.
