Since 2004, a Syrian-Lebanese-Spanish team has been carrying out an Archaeological Research project to the west of the city of Homs, between this city and Krak des Chevaliers, in the Arab Republic of Syria.

The research bodies involved in the project are the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC-IMF, Barcelona), and the International Institute for Prehistoric Research of the University of Cantabria, in Spain; the Lebanese Prehistory Museum of Saint Joseph University, Beirut, in Lebanon; and the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, in Syria.

The project is directed by Juan José Ibáñez (CSIC), Maya Haïdar-Boustani (USJ) and Michel Al-Maqdissi (DGAM).
