Ruins at a Khirbat

Islamic Periods

Numerous sites and ruins (Khirbet) are witness to occupations in the area during the Islamic periods.

It is usual to find the remains of walls together with abundant pottery at these sites.

One of the most interesting finds has been the probable quarry for Krak des Chevaliers, in the artificial cave of Magharet Al Darra.
