|
ResultsIn 2004, the Directorate of Antiquities had knowledge of half a dozen archaeological sites, large tells, in the area of study. As a result of this project, 150 sites with human occupations ranging from the Palaeolithic to the Ottoman period have been located and documented. In addition to the archaeological surveys, test excavations have been carried out at the sites of Jeftelik, Tell Ezou and Tell Marj. We have commenced the geo-archaeological study of the area, in order to determine the environmental conditions and the human impact on the environment during the Holocene.
